The lockdown regulations have had an adverse effect on the RSEP Programme, that commenced on 27 March and halted the Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes at municipalities for the appointment of contractors, and in cases where contractors were appointed, it halted the operations of contractors as all construction sites had to close.
Bredasdorp: pedestrian bridge
Status: complete
The small pedestrian bridge project was completed in June 2020, the panels of the bridge structure are painted with awareness about Gender Base Violence art-murals or mosaic paintings.
Bredasdorp: LED Units
Status: complete
The construction of LED units in Bredasdorp has commenced since the national lockdown was downgraded to Level 4 in May 2020. The project is situated next to the Library, along Ou Meule Street. The contractors were back on site and in June completed the windows, ramps, roofing and reticulation such as electivity and plumbing. On the 9th of July the municipality opened applications for the rental of the LED Units, the applications close on 24 July.
Piketberg: Active Box
Status: under construction
Prior to the lockdown the project was making good progress, the contractor was busy completing the second floor. The construction of the building has commenced since the downgrade to Level 4 in May 2020. The contractors are currently busy on completing the finishes of the building, it is expected to be complete in Aug/Sept.
Porterville: Pedestrian walkways/ ablution facilities/ trading stalls
Status: under construction
Prior to the lockdown the pedestrian walkway was 90% completed and the structure for the building erected. The construction of the project has commenced since the downgrade to Level 4 in May 2020. The contractors have completed erecting the walls and roof and are now busy with the finishes. The project is expected to be complete in Aug/Sept.
