Metro Police to Announce New Dog Unit

The City of Cape Town's newly established Metro Police dog unit will be introduced to the media tomorrow when the dogs and their handlers will demonstrate their skills.

Councillor JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security and Carin Brynard, Chairperson of the Safety and Security Portfolio Committee, will attend.

Date: Thursday, 10 September 2009

Time: 14:30

Venue: Dogs and All (dog training facility) Malmesbury

All media are invited to attend.

After the 11 dogs and their handlers complete their training they will concentrate mainly on combating the illicit trade in narcotic drugs.

Directions to venue:
Take the N7 and pass Malmesbury. About 10km outside Malmesbury turn left at the Cheese Mouse sign and follow the gravel road which will lead to Dogs and All.
