Minister offers condolences following the passing of Crystal-Donna Roberts

The Western Cape Government is saddened at the sudden and heartbreaking passing of talented local actress Crystal-Donna Roberts.
Crystal was known for her many television roles and also made a name for herself on the stage. On the big screen her portrayal of Krotoa in the movie of the same name further elevated her career. Over the past few years, she became a beloved part of many families’ lives in her portrayal of Janice in the local television series Arendsvlei. Notably, she received Best Actress nominations for her roles in The Endless River (which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2015) and Arendsvlei and was honoured with the Best Actress award for her portrayal in Krotoa.
A versatile creative, Crystal also published a book, “Speurder Sammi: Die Blou Steen” in 2022.
Provincial Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, said, “Crystal was a beloved member of our local theatre community. Her passion for her craft were evident in all that she did. She was a true example of someone who did everything with true dedication and love. She will be greatly missed.”
Our condolences go out to Crystal’s husband, family, friends and all those who worked with her and loved her over the years. Her legacy will live on on our screens, in our theatres and in our hearts for many years to come.
