The Thusong Programme has been tailored to ensure that citizens of the Western Cape can seamlessly access a wide range of integrated services irrespective of where they live.
Community Work Programme: Tackling poverty and unemployment
The Community Work Programme (CWP) is an initiative by the National Government which aims to provide a job safety net for unemployed and underemployed people of working age. The Programme also offers opportunities to unemployed youth who are actively looking for work.
Community Development Worker Programme
The Community Development Worker Programme (CDWP) is a national programme, which was announced by President Thabo Mbeki in 2003.
Speak Up on Corruption
The Department of Local Government supports municipalities with the implementation of anti-corruption strategies. To date we have supported 24 municipalities with awareness training, reaching 200 councillors.
