Notice of road construction works on MR533 (St Helena Bay to Stompneus Bay)
Contract C802.05 road construction update
Works will take place from May 2023 to February 2025 in the following places:
The section of road has been divided into three (3) sections with varying cross sections:
- Section 1 (km 13.19 to km 15.50): Class 2 cross-section
- Section 2 (km 15.50 to km 19.20): Class B(ii) urban cross-section
- Section 3 (km 19.20 to km 23.08): Class 3 cross-section
Half-width construction may take place on these roads which will necessitate road closures. A maximum of two closures will be allowed and motorists can expect to have to wait approximately 15 minutes at each closure.
Construction works is at an advanced stage, with all underground services installed. By 13 December 2024 Sections 1 & 3 will be opened to two way traffic, with Section 2 already accommodating two way traffic.
Works will resume early January 2025 for the completion of Section 2 second half as well as the remaining appurtenant works.
The Department apologises for any disruptions and inconvenience caused by the construction works; and thanks you for your understanding and cooperation. The long-term benefit of the project will be safe and comfortable road infrastructure.
