Klapmuts road closure

Notice of road closure due to roadworks along MR205 ,near Klapmuts

Please be advised that MR205 will be closed from km 5.87 to km 8.19 for roadworks from 19 March 2025 to 31 July 2025. Only local access will be permitted.

Motorists are advised to use DR1099 (La Bonheur Road) as an alternative route.

The Western Cape Government Department of Infrastructure – Transport Infrastructure Branch is undertaking a road improve-ment project to enhance the serviceable life of key routes. This includes upgrading DR1099, strengthening MR205, and repairing the road surface of MR189, DR1090, and OP5215. The project will also improve drainage structures, with lengthened drainage structures on DR1099 and MR205 to accommodate the new road prism width. Additionally, road signs and markings will be upgrad-ed to meet current standards.

As part of these works, MR205 will be closed from km 5.87 (La Bonheur/Babylonstoren intersection) to km 8.19 (Donkerhoek junction). Only local access will be permitted within the closure. Motorists are advised to use DR1099 (La Bonheur Road) as an al-ternative route, accessible from km 5.87 on MR205 or from MR191 (R45).

The road closure is scheduled to take place from 19 March 2025 to 31 July 2025. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, adhere to road signs, and remain aware of construction activities in the ar-ea. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.

The public is requested to be patient and exercise caution when using the alternate routes.
