Minister Marais congratulates WC athletes on SA Sport awards wins

The Western Cape Government is very proud to congratulate three of the nominees from the Western Cape who walked away as winners in their respective categories at the SA Sport Awards last night.

Jonathan Ntutu was announced as Sportsman of the Year with a Disability, Minke Janse van Rensburg was named as Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability, while local organization Waves for Change was named as the Recreation Body of the Year.

Minister Marais said: “We are extremely proud of our Western Cape nominees who won in their categories last night. They have worked hard, shown dedication and commitment in their training and work in their various sporting codes. As the Western Cape strives to become the sporting hub of the country, we are happy to see our athletes, administrators and sporting bodies being acknowledged at a national level.”

The department hosted its Provincial Sport Awards in September last year. The next Provincial awards will take place later this year. The department is committed to supporting our local athletes, coaches, administrators and sporting bodies. We take every opportunity we can to celebrate and honour them for the impact they have and the example they set for our young aspiring athletes.
