Entries for Western Cape Big Walk extended

The deadline to enter the Western Cape Big Walk – which is free of charge – has been extended to Thursday, 3 October 2024 at 13:00. The annual event takes place on Sunday, 6 October 2024 and it will bring together approximately 5000 people of all ages and fitness levels to walk either 5km or 10km in Rondebosch, Cape Town.

Hosted by the Western Cape Government in conjunction with Western Province Athletics and the City of Cape Town, the Big Walk is a collective celebration of healthy lifestyle, mental wellness, and active communities.

How to participate in the Western Cape Big Walk (free of charge):

  • Entries are also available in Pick ‘n Pay stores at the Webtickets kiosk.
  • Event Date: Sunday, 6 October 2024
  • Arrival Time: 07:00am
  • Start Venue: Western Province Cricket Club, 65 Avenue De Mist, Rondebosch
  • Registration closing date: Thursday, 3 October 2024 at 13:00
  • Once you have successfully registered, you will receive an email confirming your entry. Your event information will be captured on a database for the purpose of confirming your participation on the day.
  • Every participant who submits their completed confirmation form will automatically be entered into a lucky prize draw sponsored by Western Province Athletics.
  • Race numbers can be collected at the Start Venue on 4 October 2024 at 12:00 – 19:00 and 5 October 2024 at 08:00 – 15:00.
  • There is no cost for entries for all participants.

The Big Walk 2024 coincides with World Walking Day, an initiative of The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA) to promote inclusive physical activity through a 24-hour walking relay around the globe.
