Ecospecifier Global GreenTagCertTM Certification and Rating Scheme
We commit to:
• Simply, effectively and transparently demonstrate to the market and industry which products and building related materials and methods are environmentally preferred on the basis of ecological, health, safety and socially-responsibility compared to other comparable purpose business-as-usual products by certifying a minimum of 20 products under our Global GreenTagCertTM certification program by Nov 2014;
• Educating at least 5 manufacturers per month to better understand:
a. how their products connect to the relevant green markets;
b.how to use cost effective life cycle analysis (LCA) to inform and expand their markets;
c. the implications of ISO 14021 and South African Consumer Law in how to avoid ‘greenwash’;
• Promoting more confident use of sustainability practices throughout the manufacturing, consumer and building related industries that will inspire them to embrace an ethos that moves beyond ‘environmental performance and compliance’ to one that embraces holistic stewardship of the Western Cape.
