About Vredendal WCG eCentre
Vredendal WCG eCentre opened on 2 March 2015 and begun operating from 16 March 2015. The centre provides computer facilities and access to the internet and e-mail for learners, students, unemployed persons and emerging and existing entrepreneurs.
Vredendal Town is situated in the Northern Olifantsriver Valley with a population of approximately 20 000 people. It is 300km north of Cape Town on the banks of the Olifantsriver at the edge of Little Namaqualand. The town was laid out in 1933 as part of the Olifantsriver Irrigation Scheme and attained municipal status in 1963. The name is Dutch and Afrikaans for “Valley of Peace”and was taken from the name of an old farm. It is connected to the N7 National Road by the R362 and R 363 roads which run along the north and south banks respectively of the Olifantsriver.
It is the administrative and commercial centre of the northern Olifanstriver Valley and the northern part of the Western Cape Province. It is the seat of Matzikama Local Municipality.The town has two amongst others, two secondary schools, various primary schools, West Coast College, Maskam Mall, various government department offices, chain stores and franchise groups.
