Minister Baartman congratulates winners at 2026 Western Cape Smart Procurement Conference Awards
Western Cape Minister of Finance, Deidré Baartman, has congratulated the winners recognised at the 13th Smart Procurement Conference awards dinner held on Thursday evening.
She commended the winners and nominees for their contribution to strengthening public procurement across the Western Cape and South Africa.
The awards highlight the role that sound and innovative procurement practices play in enabling governments to deliver on their mandate and manage public resources responsibly.
“No government can function without procurement. It is a central part of how we deliver services and create value for our residents. The standards we set in procurement directly affect economic growth and jobs, infrastructure delivery, the quality of services and public trust,” said Minister Baartman.
The awards recognised individuals and stakeholders across the following categories:
Strategic Innovation and Transformation in Procurement
- Winner: Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism – Integrated Financial Management and Strategic Procurement Transformation (Mymoena Abrahams)
- Runner-up: Western Cape Provincial Treasury – Procurement Disclosure Report
Connected State – Collaboration and Systems Integration
- Winner: Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness – Connecting Facilities Through Data: The Moveable Asset Verification Support Model (Jovan Ruiters)
- Runner-up: Western Cape Department of Infrastructure – Roads4U Digital Platform: Enabling Integrated, Cross-Government Service Delivery (Johannes Henoch Neethling)
Data, Digital and Decision Intelligence in Procurement
- Joint winners: Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness – Asset Data to Decision Intelligence: The SCM Asset Verification Dashboard (Kurt Arendse)
- Western Cape Department of Infrastructure – The Department of Infrastructure’s Procurement Statistics Report (Aiden Holley)
- Runner-up: Western Cape Department of Infrastructure – Digitising Supply Chain Management: Driving Smart, Connected and Transparent Procurement Processes through Digital Innovation and Automation (Selelekele Makotanyane)
Procurement Leadership and Statecraft
- Winner: Western Cape Provincial Treasury – Malibongwe Vusani, Rayno Alberts, Lynette Stemmers and Lee-Anne Cupido
- Runner-up: Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness
Minister Baartman congratulated all winners and nominees for their achievements.
