The Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) Construction Industry Innovation and Empowerment Contractor Development Programme hosted a Construction Information Session at the Grabouw Thusong Centre on 12 October. This forms part of the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).
The purpose of this event expo was to provide information to potential contractors on how to comply with government regulations in order
to tender for government contracts. A total of 65 small, medium and micro enterprises attended the event.
Officials from DTPW Supply Chain Management, the South African Revenue Service (SARS), Provincial Treasury and the national Department of Public Works and Infrastructure did presentations to provide SMMEs with information on possible government tender opportunities, access to funding, tax compliance, and the nuts and bolts of how procurement processes work.
Participants also received on-the-spot assistance with registering on government supplier databases – a requirement for submitting a tender.
