The R62 in Ashton will be closed intermittently to traffic on 8 and 9 December 2021.
The closure periods will be a maximum of 10 minutes each.
The section of road that will be closed is specifically across the new Ashton Arch Bridge in order to undertake the final dynamic load testing.
The objective of the dynamic load testing is to establish the Ashton Arch Bridge’s signature parameters. This will be used to compile a maintenance manual for specialised elements.
The testing involves the measurement of the dynamic response of the bridge when a heavy vehicle of known weight moves across the bridge at various predetermined speeds.
The closure periods will be a maximum of 10 minutes each. The closures will be in place intermittently throughout the day on Wednesday, 8 December 2021, and possibly also Thursday, 9 December 2021.
The public is requested to be patient during this time. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
