Tomorrow, Tuesday 1 February 2022, the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Daylin Mitchell, will release the 2021/22 Festive Season Road Safety statistics during a media briefing.
The national Festive Season Road Safety Report released by Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula stated that the Western Cape recorded an increase in road fatalities between 1 December 2021 and 11 January 2022.
Minister Mitchell will use the opportunity to unpack the Western Cape outcomes against the background of the Western Cape’s tactical 2021/22 Festive Season Plan that was implemented through increased enforcement. He will also welcome new traffic officer recruits at Gene Louw Traffic College. These new students will undergo a 12-month traffic officer’s training course starting from tomorrow.
