Minister Mackenzie to visit jobseeker travel voucher success story
On Wednesday, 6 March 2024, Provincial Minister of Mobility, Ricardo Mackenzie, will meet with a young jobseeker from Strandfontein who used the ‘Getting YOU to Work’ travel voucher to attend her job interview in Salt River.
The Western Cape Government recently launched ‘Getting YOU to Work’ - a pilot initiative offering jobseekers free travel to interviews using Golden Arrow Bus Services (GABS).
The jobseeker transport voucher is being piloted in partnership with the private sector, to remove transport barriers and enable access to job opportunities for unemployed jobseekers. The free travel voucher is offered to interview candidates by registered employers.
Minister Mackenzie will also share the latest statistics on employers and jobseekers registered.
