Joint Media Release by Western Cape Government, SANTACO-WC and City of Cape Town
Minibus Taxi Task Team reconvenes with forward momentum
Today, the Minibus Taxi Task Team (MBTTT) reconvened to collectively address issues concerning the minibus taxi industry. The MBTTT comprises representatives of SANTACO-WC, the Western Cape Government, and the City of Cape Town; with each stakeholder invested in seeing public transport in the city moving efficiently, safely, and harmoniously.
It is in this spirit, with open minds and hearts, that we got back to work, prioritising the interests of commuters. We deliberated on a revision of the Terms of Reference for the MBTTT, which will be shared for final inputs and signed by the end of this week.
Furthermore, we agreed on the agenda items for a three-day ‘imbizo’ to take place next week. This includes separating out the critical points for immediate discussion from the longer-term issues to be addressed in the MBTTT.
