The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) recently hosted a tour by Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) during which the visitors were shown two important Western Cape Government infrastructure project sites.
ISA is a national government programme which acts as a single point of entry for accelerated infrastructure investment in South Africa, with a particular focus on catalytic public and private sector social and economic infrastructure projects.
ISA representatives and members of the DOI Health Infrastructure team visited the site earmarked for the construction of the new Klipfontein Regional Hospital, a major DOI project that is in the early stages of design and planning.
Staff from DOI Transport Infrastructure and ISA visited Refinery Interchange, the site of a major road transport upgrading project to make Plattekloof Road a dual carriageway over the N7. Two new road-over-road bridges are being built for eastbound and westbound traffic along Plattekloof Road, and the road-over-rail bridge along this road is being widened.
At these engagements, ISA representatives pledged their support for these projects and other catalytic infrastructure investment in the Western Cape, including assisting in the search for creative funding mechanisms.
