In April 2022 the Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) completed a R3.4m general upgrade and maintenance of the Elim Clinic near Bredasdorp.
The project involved expanding the new building, adding consultation rooms, adding a dedicated records room, adding a medicine store, and expanding the waiting area.
The new structure has increased treatment capacity because more health workers can attend to patients at the same time. Since the building is a heritage site, approval from Heritage Western Cape had to be obtained before the project could commence.
