Who are we?

The Sector Development sub-programmes provides oversight and resources to Wesgro (Western Cape Investment and Trade Promotion Agency) to assist potential investors and businesses. In addition, support is provided relating to investment policy and strategy development as well as linkages to the broader economic transversal support programmes and services within the Department Economic Development and Tourism.

In order to boost both foreign and domestic investment into the Western Cape, both investment development and promotion programmes are required. These include the following services:

Key programmes and initiatives

Current Initiatives by Wesgro and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) includes the following:

1. Investment Strategy

DEDAT and Wesgro will develop a regional investment strategy. The strategy will be developed in consultation and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. The strategy will cover a period of 3-5 years.

2. Virtual One-stop shop

The InvestSA Ones Stop Shop (OSS) Western Cape is streamling government services through digital solutions and is the first in the country to launch a virtual online booking platform. The OSS is a collaborative platform between various arms of national, provincial and local government who endeavour to assist investors with navigating regulatory and administrative bottlenecks.  This will make it easier for investors to connect and have meetings on investment.

3. District Municipal unit 

The District Unit at Wesgro has been estbablished with the support of DEDAT to provide greater economic promotion support to municipalities across the Western Cape.  The unit is dedicated to extending the reach of the Wesgro service offering across its mandate of tourism, trade, investment and film to both municipalities and businesses.
