Bursary applications for the 2025 academic year are now open. If you're passionate about Economics, Finance, Accounting, or any other relevant field, a bursary from the Provincial Treasury is just what you need to make your dream a reality.

The Western Cape Provincial Treasury is committed to creating opportunities for the youth and to address critical skills shortages in the fields of Economics, Accounting, Finance and Auditing. The programme was launched in 2008 with the aim to offer bursaries to students that may not have the funds to pursue a tertiary qualification. Since then, many students, like you, have graduated and doing the work they love.

Bursaries are available to Grade 12 learners and post- and undergraduate students interested in pursuing careers in:

  • Economics

  • Finance

  • Accounting & Auditing

  • Supply Chain Management

  • Built Environment and Project Management (preferably Construction Economics/Management; Population Studies; Transport Economics or related courses)

  • Information Sciences, Data Science and Statistics

To qualify for a full-time bursary, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a South African citizen who reside in the Western Cape

  • Be between 17 and 35 years’ old

  • Obtained an average of 65% or higher for the previous year of study at high school or university

  • Not in receipt of any other bursaries or state funding

  • If a postgraduate applicant already obtained a B. Degree within one or more of these targeted fields of study, they can still apply for a bursary

As an equal opportunity employer, the Provincial Treasury is committed to achieving its employment equity targets. People with disabilities are encouraged to apply for a bursary.

Only online applications will be considered. Click here to complete your bursary application and be sure to submit it on or before 31 September 2024. If you have any additional queries, please email PT.Bursaries@westerncape.gov.za or call us on 021 483 4823/6127.
