Ricardo Mackenzie
About Ricardo
Ricardo Mackenzie was selected as a Democratic Alliance candidate for the Western Cape Provincial Parliament ahead of the 2014 general election. He was elected and took office as an MPP on 21 May 2014, and then re-elected in May 2019. He represents Mitchells Plain as the DA's constituency head in the area.
During the fifth term of the provincial parliament, he served as the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs and Sports, Public Accounts Committee, Health Committee, Education Committee.
In June 2019, Mackenzie was selected as the chairperson of the Standing Committee on the Premier and Constitutional Matters. He has also served as Chairperson of the Petitions Committee, Chairperson of Transport and Public Works.
He served the Democratic Alliance on Budget Committee, Education, Social Development, Rules Committee, Programming Committee, Health Committee, Committee Safety, Public Accounts Committee, Parliamentary Oversight Committee and as a Whip in Western Cape Parliament.
Mackenzie has won several awards in several areas of his employment including at JPMorgan Chase, the World Wide Service Award as one of their best employees, Director-General Awards for Innovation at the Department of Sports and Recreation. He loves Rugby and all things sport, hiking and walking on all our beautiful beaches. He is also a avid dog lover.
Mackenzie holds an advanced Graduate Certificate in Governance and Leadership (NQF Level 7) from University of the Witswatersrand. He is at present registered for a post-graduate diploma in governance at Wits University. He worked for the Old Mutual Bank, JPMorgan Chase Bank, The Presidency, Eurocape International and as Regional Executive for Dial-A-Bed before being appointed Manager/PA to the then-Minister of Sport and Recreation Fikile Mbalula.
