On Friday, 15 November 2019, the WCPO had an opportunity to market our services at the commencement of the South African Police Services' Festive Season Launch 2019. Communities from all over the Western Cape gathered at the SAPS Training College in Philippi.
The aim of outreach of this nature is to showcase the services of the Western Cape Police Ombudsman and also to share the mandate of the office. We, more often than not, will hand out a promotional item, so that people have our contact details, in a functional format. Sadly our outreach was cut short due to community members shoving and pushing to obtain promotional items. Risking injuries to both staff and community members was not a risk we were willing to take.
We wish to thank the SAPS for their continuous inclusion of our office in their strategic events, and trust that we can continue in the spirit of partnerships. We look forward to a Safe Festive Season.
