Tomorrow, Tuesday, 18 August 2015, Premier Helen Zille will brief the Western Cape fishing community on the ‘State of the Harbours’ in the Province.
Since 2009, the Western Cape Government has been in the process of engaging both local and national government in the management of the Province’s 12 fishing harbours, which currently fall under national government. These harbours have been largely neglected, and poorly managed. This has resulted in their dilapidation, loss of jobs and tourism investment.
Premier Zille will update the fishing community and the media tomorrow on the steps the Western Cape Government is taking to rectify the current mismanagement of harbours and to restore their immense potential for job creation and growth.
All media are welcome to attend.
