Invitation to Human Trafficking Awareness event

26 July 2024

Human trafficking is a prevalent crime that affects millions of people worldwide, including vulnerable people who are often trafficked through transportation hubs.

On 29 July 2024, the Western Cape Department of Social Development and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) will run a Trafficking in Persons Awareness campaign in Cape Town. This is ahead of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on 30 July 2024.

Provincial Minister of Social Development, Jaco Londt and PRASA Regional Manager, Raymond Maseko will be joined by the Non-Government Orgnisation A21, and the South African Police Services, to raise awareness at the Inter-Provincial Bus Terminal at the Cape Town Train Station. Here they will engage with commuters to raise awareness about signs of human trafficking, the dangers and provide information on how to report trafficking incidents.
