Department of Local Government Long Service Awards 2024

The Department of Local Government hosted its Long Service Awards on 23 August 2024 at the Cape Town Lodge Hotel and Conference Centre. The event was a tremendous success, marked by the impressive presence and support of distinguished guests.

The event was opened by the Programme Director: Mr. Albert Dlwengu and the Head of Department: Mr Graham Paulse extended a warm welcome to everyone. The Mayor of Overstrand Municipality: Dr Annelie Rabie who travelled from afar to join us and offered an inspiring address on excellence in service delivery and being resilient in our professional and personal career.

The keynote address was given by Minister Anton Bredell, who recognised the significance of Women’s Month and expressed gratitude for the invaluable contributions of women in their various roles. He proudly noted that 25 of the Western Cape municipalities are ranked among the top 30 in South Africa, attributing this success to the dedicated employees present at the event. Minister Bredell also highlighted the need to focus on uplifting the Central Karoo communities, acknowledging the challenges ahead while urging everyone to continue striving for excellence.

Certificates were then presented to the deserving recipients, celebrating their years of service and dedication to the people of the Western Cape. The Minister concluded by expressing his appreciation for the employees' contributions and the support from their families, reinforcing the importance of collective effort as they face the challenges of the future.
