The Young Sparks for Hout Bay Programme will be launched. This initiative makes available small grants to support community projects and is initiated by the youth of Hout Bay. With financial support from the Coalition for Effective Local Democracy (CELD), these grants are awarded to assist once-off community improvement projects. Projects can cover a range of community services.
Examples include:
Along with the Young Sparks Project, The Recycle Swop Shop Caravan and the Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN) outlet will also be launched.
To celebrate this, a host of fun activities have been planned. Some 50 under nine and eleven football players will compete on the newly renovated sports field cleared by the Young Sparks project. Four teams of basket ball players, four teams of netball players and fifty children will participate in kiddies games organised by the Sibanye Youth Group.
Twenty visiting BEN cyclists and the BEN caravan (a recycle caravan collecting recyclables from children who swop their recyclables for stationery and other items donated by local businesses) will all participate in the open day event.
The day promises to be loads of fun for the entire community and all are welcome to attend.
All media are welcome to attend.
