Vehicle examiner and driving licences examiner registration
Licence inspectors, vehicle examiners, driving licence examiners, traffic officers and traffic wardens need to be registered.
Requirements for registration as Examiner of Vehicles
- Letter from TS Proprietor
- Application form RO (on NaTIS)
- SA identity document of EoV
- SA driving licence of EoV
- Diploma of EoV from accredited training institution (original or certified copy)
- Declaration stating no interest in EoV
- If EoV comes from another province then the RO3 form (providing proof that registration has been cancelled)
- Criminal check of EoV (SAPS 69i) not older than 6 months
- Proof of payment of application fee (R55)
- Letter of appointment to a TS by the Proprietor
Procedure to link and appoint examiner of vehicles
Before an examiner can be linked to all the Testing Stations (TS), the testing station proprietor or Management Representative who desires to appoint any examiner of vehicle at a testing station shall submit the particulars of such examiner to the MEC (Mobility) for approval in terms of the provisions of Regulation 134 of the NRT Regulations.
- The proprietor of TS then applies for the appointment of the Examiner of Vehicles (EoV) to the MEC.
- The proprietor or management representative submits all required documents such as South African Police Services (SAPS) clearance, copy of registration certificate, ID, driving licence and diploma to this Department (MEC).
Requirements for registration as Examiner for Driving Licenses
- Application form RO

- SA driving licence
- Diploma from accredited training institute

- Application fee (R55)
Duplicate Registration fee: (EoV, EDL) R33
Traffic Officers
- Appropriate diploma from accredited institution
- Be a fit and proper person (no criminal record)
- Have undergone training in relation to the laws applicable to the transportation of dangerous goods (Traffic officer only)
