New Provincial Minister of Mobility committed to WCG’s vision of connecting communities
On Thursday, 13 June 2024, Isaac Mbulelo Sileku was sworn in as the Provincial Minister of Mobility for the Western Cape. This followed Premier Alan Winde’s announcement of his Provincial Cabinet for the new term of government.
Minister Sileku is a returning Member of the Provincial Legislature who has served as a Councillor and Deputy Mayor at Theewaterskloof Municipality (2016–2019), the National Council of Provinces (2019–2022) as a permanent delegate from the Western Cape Province. He has been a member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since 2022, where he was a Member of the Standing Committee on Mobility and the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Local Government.
Hailing from Beaufort West, Minister Sileku then moved to Caledon where he still plays an active role serving communities in the Overberg region.
Minister Sileku says, “I am deliberately spending time meeting with the leadership of the Mobility Department and our network of essential stakeholders and beneficiaries before developing my priorities for Mobility in the Western Cape. That said, I am committed to continuing the work Minister Mackenzie has been doing to see communities connected to opportunities with a transport network that is safe, reliable, and sustainable; moving our economy forward for this province and its people to thrive. We have an excellent team and I look forward to the next few weeks of robust engagement and planning”.
