Draft Regulation on Motor Vehicle License Fee Increases Open for Public Comment
The Western Cape Government is inviting the public to provide comments on the recently published draft regulation regarding motor vehicle license (MVL) fee increases in the province. The draft regulation on motor vehicle license (MVL) fee increases has been published in the Provincial Gazette Extraordinary 8901, dated 22 March 2024, and is now open for public commentary until Sunday, 21 April 2024.
The proposed fee increases, averaging 4.5% for the Western Cape, play a vital role in ringfencing funds, alongside budgetary allocations, to uphold our roads' condition significantly above those in other provinces. Investing in the longevity and quality of our roads is very important - our roads are vital assets that facilitate the movement of goods and people, essential for commerce, tourism, and daily life.
With over 2 million vehicles registered in the Western Cape, our roads must remain in optimal condition to ensure the safety and convenience of all road users, including residents and visitors alike.
The draft regulation, published in the Provincial Gazette Extraordinary 8901 dated March 22, 2024, outlines the proposed motor vehicle registration and license fees, alongside other pertinent information.
