The project forms part of celebrating 20 years of democracy in our country. Choir music is a wonderful way to create social cohesion. The special choir workshops will give choirs the opportunity to hone their skills. The best choirs may even perform, with professional artists, for the Hessequa community on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 October 2014.
All community choirs, including farm and church choirs, from all over the Hessequa municipal area, are invited to participate in this exciting project. Choir leaders are asked to attend our open-meeting on 17 July 2014 at 19:30 at the Duivenhok Community Hall. Come find out how your choir can benefit from this series of workshops and even participate in the mass-choir production with some of our foremost artists.
The workshops and concert form part of the Department for Audience Development and Education at Artscape’s annual outreach to a rural community in the Western Cape. The visit to the Hessequa area is already the eighth consecutive year where rural communities are given first-hand exposure to professional theatre – on stage and behind the scenes.
This outreach programme will give inhabitants of the area the opportunity to experience the arts with performances by some of our best artists from 30 September until 3 October 2014.
