No Fees Programme

The amount reflected on the cheque represents the school fees previously paid by parents for all the learners at the school.

On Monday 19 June 2006 at a special function, Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool and Education MEC Cameron Dugmore handed over a cheque of R328,350.00 to the Paulus Joubert Primary School in Paarl, which is one of 419 schools that have opted for "no fee status".

This means that the parents of almost 150,000 learners, representing about 15.9% of learners in the province, will not have to worry about school fees. This is part of the Premier's Siyabulela service delivery campaign.
