The overall winner receives an all-expenses paid trip to represent the province at the world’s most prestigious international entrepreneurship conference taking place in Moscow next year, a prize worth R100 000. Other winners will receive prize money, which ranges between R50 000 and R15 000.
Premier Helen Zille and the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde, will announce the winning entrepreneurs at a ceremony at the Mount Nelson Hotel.
Minister Winde said this formed part of a campaign to foster a culture of entrepreneurship in the province, and to give deserving entrepreneurs the chance to grow their businesses and create jobs for fellow citizens.
“It’s important to recognise and award small businesses that do well. They are the engine room of our economy. In this province, our number one priority is to grow the economy and create jobs and SMMEs make a significant contribution to that goal,” said Minister Winde.
