Funding workshops for Western Cape entrepreneurs will kick off in the province next week.
Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, said the Department of Economic Development and Tourism would host Investment Readiness workshops across the province. The workshops start in Cape Town on 28 July.
The Western Cape Government will be hosting sessions in the following regions:
Minister Winde was told by investors during the Western Cape Funding Fair that small businesses often lacked insights into packaging applications correctly to receive funding.
“Through these sessions, we want to assist small businesses to professionalise their funding applications so as to increase their success rate. Access to funding is a key challenge facing entrepreneurs and that is why we have launched this intervention.”
Areas of focus for the sessions include:
Forms of funding
Due diligence processes
Red flags at investment committee levels
Steps to improve investment readiness
Understand common requirements of funders
Insights into the language of funders
Structuring financial statements
“We are targeting small and medium enterprises which are considering sourcing investment, those who are actively looking for funding or have an early stage application in process.”
To meet the criteria to participate, businesses must have an average turnover of R 2 million per annum; have been operating for a minimum of 3 years and require minimum funding of R500 000.
Details on venues and dates in all regions will be released shortly.
