Temporary Interruption of Electricity supply to parts of Hout Bay

13 August 2009
The media release (below), which was issued yesterday, has been incorrectly interpreted as also affecting the central business district of Cape Town. Please note that, as the headline indicates, the only area that will be affected is Hout Bay.

To cater for the growing electricity demand in Hout Bay, the City of Cape Town's Electricity Department needs to upgrade electrical apparatus at the Bisschop Road substation.

This will require a temporary interruption of the electricity supply from 08:00 to 17:00 on Thursday, 20 August in the following areas:

Hout Bay Harbour, CBD area (Victoria Avenue) and the Western areas, including Llundudno.

"Customers are advised to treat electricity installations as live for the full duration of the interruption as the electricity supply may be restored at any time without warning. City Electricity Services regrets any inconvenience caused," says Mark Duvenage, District Manager: Wynberg.

Issued by: Communication Department, City of Cape Town.
