Exciting cricket moments at Heathfield Primary!

Learners and staff at Heathfield Primary had the privilege of meeting their cricketing heroes when the Mumbai Indians Cape Town (MICT) team visited the school on 27 January 2025. The highlight? Engaging with Protea stars Rassie van der Dussen, Dane Piedt and Reza Hendricks!

Principal Branmal Swartz expressed his delight, stating, “These cricketers, who appear larger than life on television, were humble, approachable, and genuinely engaged with our learners.” The MICT players conducted a training session, sharing valuable bowling, batting, and fielding techniques, leaving a lasting impression on everyone.”

Thanks to Roger De Wet, a former teacher and co-founder of Benjamin Projects, this visit was a testament to their commitment to cricket development at Heathfield Primary. Learners also served as ball boys during MICT matches, gaining unique insights into the game.

The MICT players graciously accommodated endless requests for selfies and autographs, further endearing themselves to the school community. Their presence ignited a renewed passion for cricket among learners, who can now say that they met the SA20 2025 Champions!
