What are Western Cape Government eCentres?
Our eCentre programme makes information and communication technology (ICT) freely available and accessible to communities in throughout our Province, with a special focus on rural areas where access is most needed.
We are committed to opening doors to enable better self-development, education, employment and business opportunities, and help fuel socio-economic development in all communities within the Western Cape.
What are our services?
Members of eCentres get free:
- Use of computers
- Access to internet
- Access to email
- Printing (a maximum of 10 pages per person per day)
- Access to government information and services
- Access to job, bursaries and research information

4. Basic Computer Literate Course
The eCentres provide a basic computer course for citizens who do not have any experience in using computers. The course covers basic information in terms of computer fundamentals, files and folders basic introduction to word, spreadsheets, presentation and the ICT communication.
5. e-Learner Course
Free e-learner online course is presented at the eCentres. E-Learner is a European Computer Driving License (ECDL) endorsed product which equips candidates with a solid foundation for progressing on to the ECDL / ICDL qualification. It is a certified, modular course of progressive ICT skills utilising courseware from e-Learner. Using a unique and integrated approach, e-Learner provides the means to acquire essential ICT skills across a spectrum of 7 units. The e-learner course covers the following training opportunities:

- Files and Folders
- Drawings
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Presentations
- Web Browsing and Emails
6. International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Course
Free ICDL training is provided at the e-centres. ICDL (International Computer Driving License) is the international standard in end-user computer skills. It is a certification in the practical use of computers and computer applications. The following formal training opportunities is available:
- Computer Essentials
- Online Essentials
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Presentations
- IT Security
