On Thursday 19 October 2023, Premier of the Western Cape, Alan Winde, and Western Cape Minister of Mobility, Ricardo Mackenzie, will officially launch a new Junior Traffic Training Centre (JTTC) at Nederburg Primary School in Paarl.

The purpose of this training facility is to teach primary school learners about road safety in a play environment, without exposing them to the dangers of real traffic situations. The demarcated area with painted roads and traffic signs will be used to teach children how to cross a road safely as a pedestrian and how to behave as a motorist or cyclist.

By creating this space in partnership with the school and Drakenstein Municipality, the Western Cape Mobility Department aims to reduce traffic fatalities and enable safer communities. This will be the 36th JTTC launched by the Department’s Road Safety Management unit across the province.

Date:  Thursday 19 October 2023

Time:  11h30 for 12h00

Venue: Nederburg Primary School, Lantana Street, Klein Nederburg, Paarl
