Community Child Rights Workshops: Hessequa Municipality 2021
Community Child Rights Workshops is one of three child participation methods in our office. The objectives of our Community Child Rights Workshops are to share the mandate of the Western Cape Commissioner for Children directly with children, advocate a child rights approach with stakeholders and parents, and monitor services provided to children. Between the 23 to 31 March 2021 the Commissioner for Children interacted with 520 children in Hessequa Municipality. Our journey through the municipality is captured in our new report (read here). It details the character of Hessequa, the method of engagement, children's dreams, worries, and recommendations for the departments of Health, Education, Social Development, and Cultural Affairs and Sport, inputs from parents and service providers, as well as take home messages.
